Tag Tuesday - Letter G

G is for Gigha

This is the beautiful Isle of Gigha, after which I am named.  It's a small Hebridean island off the west coast of Scotland. A 20 minute ferry ride will take you to this beautiful, island with soft  sandy beaches and a mild climate and higher than average sunshine.

Gigha has a long history, having been inhabited continuously since prehistoric times and is the ancestral home of Clan MacNeill. It fell under the control of the Norse and the Lords of the Isles before becoming incorporated into modern Scotland and saw a variety of conflicts during the medieval period.

I first visited the island way back in 1987.  Last June we spent a week camping on Gigha and enjoying the Isle of Gigha Music Festival as part of our 2000 mile UK tour in our 1974 Volkswagen.

My Tag Tuesday contribution has been painted in off white acrylic and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Golden Lustre.  I added an embossed flower which I rubbed with Sunset Gold Lumiere.  

D is for Devon

I am lucky enough to live in a part of Devon that is not only a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', (AONB) which is nationally protected for the beauty of its landscape, but is also a World Biosphere Reserve.  Biosphere Reserves are places where conservation and sustainable development go hand in hand.

I don’t have the skills to do the landscape justice on a small tag so I’ve done the Devon County flag instead.

Tag Tuesday 'B'

Letter B
I made two tags for Tag Tuesday this week.

B for Birthday: My first tag is for my beautiful daughter Alex's birthday.  I used purple and black acrylic paints and added a tiny embossed heart, a die cut flourish and finished with a purple velvet ribbon.

B for Baby: and the second one is of her daughter, my gorgeous baby granddaughter, 6 month old Molly.  I made this tag with pink and white acrylic paints, stamped it with hearts and swirls.  I added Angelina hearts and a pink sari silk ribbon.

A is for Art.  I used green and blue acrylic paints, black Posca pen and Lumiere paint to make this tag.  I finished it off with twisted wine bottle wire and a tyvek bead.

Here is my tag to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.  Strips of coloured fabric cut out to the Union flag design and stitched onto play foam backing with tiny bunting flags cut out of the scraps.

Found Objects

Found Objects - I found the driftwood, shell and pottery on the beach at Northam, Bideford which is my home town and one of the North Devon's Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  I discovered after a bit of Googling that the piece of stoneware is part of an old ginger beer bottle.  They were made in the 1920s so this one hasn't travelled very far in all that time! They are quite collectable if you mange to find a whole one.

Purple

Purple:  for this tag I used a Dulux paint colour card trimmed to the same size as a regular tag.  I used the trimmings to make the 'I love Purple' cut-outs.

Tag Tuesday - Poetry & Prose

This week for Tag Tuesday I made my tag using card offcuts from another project.  The tag was painted with acrylics and inks and sprayed with cosmic shimmer mist.  I painted the offcuts with various different purple mediums such as Derwent inktense, nail varnish, and acrylic paint. I also added a bit of shot silk and purple satin ribbon.  As purple is my signature colour, I signed it with a purple fingerprint.

Valentine's Day

 It's Valentine's Day this week for Tag Tuesday and I didn't have a clue so I started by having a much needed tidy up of my workdesk.


I'm terrible for keeping absolutely everything in case it might come in handy and I found a red paint covered wipe left over from a recent Journal Page which got me thinking. I distressed it with a heat gun which shrinks the wipe to the approximate size of my tag. I embellished it with various beady bits and bobs and a couple of wired tyvek beads and I added petersham ribbon with the wording.

The heat gun had turned the red paint a bit orangey, so I added a little more red paint here and there, glued the whole thing to a red painted tag and added a bit of skinny ribbon to finish. I'm quite pleased with the result.

Hearts

The theme for Tag Tuesday this week is 'Hearts'

I recycled my tag from the bin at work, I crinkled it up a bit and painted it white. I dabbed purple ink on the tag and around the edges, added an inchie with a purple felt heart.

The big heart I cut from an old piece of kitchen paper that I use to wipe my brushes.  I added a tyvek bead, a tiny heart and a purple ribbon to finish,

Tag Tuesday - Lace

Ooh la la.
Here is my lace contribution to Tag Tuesday for week 5.  
As you can see, I'm back to my signature colour purple  ;-)
I painted the tag with amethyst metallic and blue acrylic paint and then stamped some swirls, a London postmark and some script.  I covered this with black embroidered and sequinned lace.  My burlesque lady has been painted with amethyst metallic paint and inktense pencils.

'White' tag - week 3


Here is my effort for Tag Tuesday

It's a white card tag with embellished inchies and 

fabric beads decorated with white, pearl and 

silver bugles, seed beads and silver wire.

To finish, I punched the corners with little hearts and

added white satin and organza ribbon
